Nakorn Rachasima is also known as Korat. It is one of the largest cities in North Eastern Thailand, busy with large city aspirations but still charmingly provincial. An unmistakenly American atmospere is present; a leftover from the Vietnam war when there was an American airbase. It is a busy, undistinctive city like so many in Thailand, and yet it draws me like a magnet.
