Built in 1196 by king Narapatisithu, the Dhammayazika pagoda does not follow the usual square-base building style but instead has a pentagonal base terrace. Walking around this pagoda is a marvelous experience! The resemblance of the pagoda itself to that of the Shwezigon pagoda in Nyaung U is clear, but its more complex design make it really special.
